How to set up Box backup
This article explains how to create a backup job for Box in SysCloud.
Steps to set up Box backup
- Log in to the SysCloud backup application using your admin credentials.
- From the top navigation menu, click Jobs.
- Click Create new backup job.
- In the Name backup job step, enter a Job name. (Optional: Enter a Description) and Click Next.
- In the Connect clouds & add accounts step, locate Box.
- Under the Action column:
- If this is the first Box account you are connecting to SysCloud, click Connect.
- If one or more Box accounts are already connected, click the Edit connection icon for Box.
- In the side tray that opens:
- Click Connect and add accounts if this is the first Box account you are connecting.
- Click Add accounts if other Box account(s) are already connected.
Note: If browser pop-ups are disabled, SysCloud will show a message asking you to enable pop-ups. Enable browser pop-ups and retry the connection. - In the Box login pop-up window, enter the credentials of the Box account you want to connect to SysCloud. Authorize the connection and grant the required permissions.

- Click Grant Access to Box, when prompted.
- After successful authorisation, return to the SysCloud app screen.
The Box account will be connected to SysCloud.
Note: If browser pop-ups are disabled, SysCloud will show a message asking you to enable pop-ups. Enable pop-ups and retry the connection. - Click Next.
- In the Select scope step, select the checkbox for Box.
- Click the Select or Edit icon under the Scope column.
- In the Entities - Box window, select the Box account you want to back up.
- Under Select users to backup, choose the required backup scope:
Entire account: Select this option to back up all users in the selected Box account.
Specific users: Select this option to back up only selected users from the Box account.
- If you select Specific users, click Add users.

- In the Users - Box window, select the checkbox next to the users you want to back up

- You can use the filter icon to filter users by status, such as Active, Deleted, Suspended, or Alias.

- Click Confirm in the Users - Box window.

- If you select Specific users, click Add users.
- Click Confirm in the Entities – Box window.

- Click Next.
- In the Select apps step, select Box and click on the Edit icon to configure Retention Type, Retention Period and Exclusions.
- In the Apps-Box window, review the following settings:
Retention type (Default): Item-level retention- Retention is calculated based on the last modified date of an item. For Box, only Item-level retention is applicable

Retention period: Keep Unlimited selected to retain backed-up Box data without a defined retention limit.
Clear Unlimited to set a custom retention period in days/ months/ years.
Exclusions: Click the custom edit icon under Exclusions to configure backup scope and file exclusion settings to include/ exclude recycle bin files or specific file formats.- Include only files owned by the specific user or include all drive documents which means files owned by the user as well as the files shared with the user. By default, its My Drive files only.
- Include or exclude recycle bin files. By default, excluded.
- Include or exclude Video, Audio or Image. By default, excluded.
- Exclude specific file formats from backup
- File size exclusions
- Once done, click Confirm to proceed.
- Include only files owned by the specific user or include all drive documents which means files owned by the user as well as the files shared with the user. By default, its My Drive files only.
- Once the retention period and exclusions are configured, Click confirm to proceed.
- In the Configure settings step, click on edit icon to customize the configuration settings.
- Select the Box account and enable Auto-Backup if you want SysCloud to automatically include newly added users in the backup job. Click Confirm.
- Then click Next to go the Configure add-ons step.
- In the Configure add-ons step, since the add-ons are not applicable for Box, click Next to skip.
- In the Define action flows step, since the action flows are not applicable for Box, click Start backup to skip and start the first backup.
SysCloud will create the backup job and start backing up the selected Box users.
