We have 2 roles for backup application:
Super Administrator (Full Access)
The Super Administrator has the highest level of access and can perform all actions within the SysCloud Backup Application.
Here are the specific permissions:
Backup Management
- Create and edit backup jobs.
- Manage backup errors and limitations.
Restore Operations
- Restore with overwrite option.
- Restore to custom folders or other accounts.
- Manage restore-related errors and limitations.
Export Operations
- Export user data and manage export-related errors.
- User Data & Archives
- Access and preview archived user data, including email content.
eDiscovery
- Perform global searches using advanced metadata filters.
- Place and release legal holds on backed-up data.
Ransomware Recovery
- Restore from safe snapshot.
- Transfer ownership of ransomware-infected or encrypted files.
- Remove file sharing.
- Mark ransomware alerts as true positive or dismiss them.
Security & Compliance
- Transfer ownership of files.
- Remove file sharing.
- Manage compliance alerts (mark as true positive or dismiss).
Audit Logs
- View and manage complete audit logs.
Data Change Insights
- Compare snapshots.
- Mark anomalies as true positive or dismiss them.
Archiving
- Approve items flagged by policies.
- Perform on-demand archiving.
Billing Management
- Manage subscriptions, view invoices, and handle payment methods.
Delete Permissions
- Delete backed-up entities and specific items.

The Backup Administrator has most of the permissions of the Super Administrator but with some restrictions.

- Approve and archive items qualified by policies in the archiver.
Restrictions for Backup Administrator:
- Cannot manage self-service options
- Cannot manage admin roles (add, remove, or edit other administrators)
Here’s how you can set the roles:
- Click the gear icon (⚙️) to open Access Management under Settings.
2.You will see a list of roles available in the SysCloud Backup Application.
3.Select the role you want to assign (e.g., Super Administrator) and click Add Admin.
4.Customize the permission sets as needed for the selected role.
5. Click Next, then select the user(s) you want to assign the role to.
6. Click Add Admin to complete the role assignment.
7. To view existing users in a role (e.g., Super Administrator), click the role name — a list of assigned users will be displayed.
