What Slack data categories does eDiscovery support?
SysCloud eDiscovery for Slack supports search across backed-up Slack communication and file data. When eDiscovery is enabled for Slack in a backup job, SysCloud indexes the selected Slack data so that it can be searched later from eDiscovery.
Supported Slack data categories
| Slack data category | Description |
| Slack channels | Public or private Slack channel data backed up by SysCloud can be indexed for eDiscovery searches. |
| Direct messages (Direct Messages) | Slack direct message conversations backed up by SysCloud can be included in eDiscovery indexing. |
| Threads | Threaded replies within Slack conversations can be searched when the thread data is backed up and indexed. |
| Files | Files shared in Slack can be included in eDiscovery searches based on the enabled search type and indexed file data. |
Search support
SysCloud eDiscovery supports two types of indexing for Slack data:
| Search type | What it does |
| Metadata search | Indexes Slack data attributes for future eDiscovery searches. |
| Content search | Indexes the actual content of Slack messages, threads, and supported file data so that the content can be searched later. |
- eDiscovery must be enabled for Slack in the backup job for Slack data to be searchable.
- Only backed up and indexed Slack data will be available in eDiscovery search results.
- File search availability depends on the file data indexed by SysCloud during backup.
