What types of restores are available for Salesforce in the SysCloud backup application?

This article explains the types of Salesforce restores available in the SysCloud backup application.

You can restore Salesforce data from the backup archives based on the type of data you want to recover. SysCloud supports restore for Salesforce records, objects, metadata, and files.

Types of Salesforce restores

The following restore types are available for Salesforce in the SysCloud backup application:

Restore type  Description  When to use
Record-level restore  Restores selected Salesforce records from a restorable object.  Use this when you want to restore one or more specific records from a Salesforce object.
Object-level restore  Restores records from a selected Salesforce object.  Use this when you want to restore data at the object level instead of selecting individual records.
Metadata type restore  Restores the selected Salesforce metadata type from the backup archive.  Use this when you want to restore a metadata type backed up by SysCloud.
Metadata component restore  Restores selected metadata components under a metadata type.  Use this when you want to restore specific metadata components instead of restoring the complete metadata type.
File restore  Restores selected Salesforce files from the backup archive.  Use this when you want to recover Salesforce files backed up by SysCloud.

Restore options available during Salesforce restore

When restoring Salesforce records, objects, metadata, or files, the following restore options may be available:

  • You can restore only the Salesforce items that are marked as restorable in the SysCloud backup application.
  • Records in the Salesforce Recycle Bin are handled based on the restore option selected.
  • Validation rules and workflows may be disabled during restore and re-enabled after the restore is completed.
  • After initiating a restore, you can review the restore status from the restore report.
