Restore Slack data

Why external members aren’t re-added automatically and how to invite them back?

When SysCloud restores a Slack Connect channel it can:

  • Recreate the channel (private or public).

  • Replay every historical message and file.

  • Re-add only the members who belong to your workspace.

Because the Slack API limits apps and bot tokens to managing users in their own organization, any partners from other companies are left out of the new channel. They’ll regain access as soon as someone with permission sends them a fresh Slack Connect invitation.

How to re-invite external partners

  1. Open the restored channel in Slack.

  2. Click the channel name in the header.

  3. Choose SettingsAdd people under Slack Connect.

  4. Enter each partner’s email address or Slack display name and click Add.

  5. Select An external organisation, then Next.

  6. (Optional) Pick the permission level (Can post only or Can post & invite) and click Next.

  7. Add a brief note, e.g., “Channel history was restored; please re-join” and click Send invitation.
