How do I restore a file along with its revision history?
You cannot restore a file with its revision history. Since files have unique IDs, the restored file will have a different ID from the original file. You can choose a previous version of the file from the backup application. However, you can restore only a copy of the document without the version history.
To learn how to restore a specific version of a document:
- For Google Workspace, click here.
- For Microsoft 365, click here.
Note:
- Every time you make changes to a document, it will be backed up as a new version in the next backup cycle.
- Google tracks only up to 100 document versions. This is a Google limitation.
