What are the different retention types offered in the SysCloud backup product?
There are two retention types that are currently offered by SysCloud backup that you can choose from when you initiate a backup job. They are:
Item-level retention- If you choose item-level retention, then the retention period is calculated based on the last modified date of the item backup up.
For example: If the retention period is set for one year and you have chosen an item-level retention type, then a file that was last modified on April 1, 2021, will be retained till April 1, 2022. After April 1, 2022, the file will not be present in the backup archives.
Snapshot-level retention- If you choose snapshot-level retention, the retention period is calculated from the date of the latest snapshot of the backed-up item.
For example: If the retention period is set for one year and you have snapshot-level retention, then the snapshot of a file from April 1, 2021, will be deleted on April 1, 2022. The file versions from the later snapshots will still be accessible on April 1, 2022.
