Why OneNote backups are paused and how to resume them?
Microsoft deprecated the OneNote APIs on March 31, 2025. From that date, SysCloud requires additional authorization to access OneNote content stored in SharePoint. Until your Microsoft 365 account is reconnected to include the OneNote permissions, SysCloud cannot back up your SharePoint‑based OneNote notebooks, sections, and pages.

How to resume OneNote backups
Follow these steps to reconnect your Microsoft 365 account to resume OneNote backups.
-
Log in to your SysCloud account.
-
A sticky banner appears at the top of every page: Due to a Microsoft API limitation, OneNote backups have been paused since Mar 31, 2025. Click Reconnect now.
-
You are taken to the Cloud connection center. Locate the Microsoft 365 connection card highlighted with a hotspot indicator and click Edit.
-
In the side tray, click on Add accounts.
-
Log in with the Microsoft 365 admin account and grant the updated OneNote permissions.
-
If you have multiple Microsoft 365 accounts connected, repeat steps 4–5 for each account separately.
Once the account is re‑authorized, SysCloud automatically resumes backing up your OneNote notebooks, sections, and pages.
