How to export Box data from the SysCloud backup application?

This article explains how to export backed-up Box data from SysCloud.

You can export:

  • A full Box user archive
  • One or more Box folders
  • One or more Box files

        Steps to export Box data

        1. Log in to the SysCloud backup application.
        2. From the top navigation menu, click Archives.
            
        3. From the left-side cloud navigation bar, select Box.
            
        4. Select the required Box account.
            
        5. Choose the Box data you want to export:
          1. Full user account export: To export a full user archive,
            1. Select the checkbox next to the required Box user.
                
            2. Click on Export.
                
            3. In the Export – User level popup window, verify the account selected for export
                
            4. Verify the snapshot date. If you wish to change the snapshot date and perform a Point-in-time export, click on the date.
                Select the specific date for both From & To dates and click Apply.

              Please note that if you select a range of dates, the latest file across all file versions that fall within your selected timeframe, will be displayed. 
            5. Select the required export options:
              • Export with Collaborations: Select this option to include collaboration or sharing information in the export.
              • Export with Comments: Select this option to include Box comments in the export.
                  
            6. (Optional) Add a comment in the Add comment field.
                
            7. Click Export.
                
          2. To export folders or files:
            1. Click the username to open the user’s Box archive.
                
            2. Browse the folder structure from the left-side folder navigation panel, if required.
                
            3. For Point-in-time export from a specific archive version, select the snapshot date from the top right corner.
                For Point-in-time restore, Select the specific date for both From & To dates. Then click Apply.
                
              Please note that if you select a range of dates, the latest file across all file versions that fall within your selected timeframe, will be displayed.
            4. In the main archive view, select the checkbox next to the folder(s) or file(s) you want to export.
                Or you can directly select the folder from the left-side folder navigation panel.
                

            5. Click Export.
                
            6. In the Export – File level popup window, verify the folder(s) or file(s) selected for export
                
            7. Verify the snapshot date. You cannot change the snapshot date from here.
                
            8. Select the required export options:
              • Export with Collaborations: Select this option to include collaboration or sharing information in the export.
              • Export with Comments: Select this option to include Box comments in the export.
                  
            9. (Optional) Add a comment in the Add comment field.
                
            10. Click Export.
                
        6. View export status and Download Link: Go to Reports > Export report to check the export status and download the exported data when it is ready. The download link is available for 7 days. The contents will be downloaded in a zipped file.  

              

               

              The following file formats will be retained from Box backups after performing export action in the SysCloud application:  

              File type Supported original file formats
              Documents TXT, PDF, DOCX, DOC, XLSX, PPTX, RTF, ODP, ODS, ODT, PBIX, Gdoc, Gsheet, Gslides
              Audio files OGG, WAV, MP3
              Video files WMV, MP4, MOV, AVI
              Image files SVG, GIF, PNG, JPG
              Other file types ZIP, EXE, JSON, CSV, XML
                • Folder structure is retained successfully in the exported contents.
