How to restore Teams Chat data?
Step 1: Log in to SysCloud using your admin credentials.
Step 2: Click on “Archives” and select “Teams Chat” from the Side Navigation Panel.

Step 3: Restore
Option 1: In the Archives page, select the checkbox next to the user whose entire Teams Chat data you want to restore, and click Restore.

Option 2:
a) If you want to restore a specific chat conversation between two individuals, click on the checkbox next to that chat between these individuals and then Click “Restore.”

b) If you want to restore a specific message between two individuals, click on the checkbox next to that message after entering the chat and then Click “Restore.”

Step 4:
a. Verify the snapshot date and time (click here to learn how to select snapshots)
b. In the restore pop-up you can choose how you would like to restore your chat.
There are options to restore to the members of the chat or any other user in your domain. At the chat level, you can choose to restore only messages, only files, or both. At a message level, you can choose to restore messages with or without their replies.


- Private chats are restored as new Teams
Due to Microsoft API limitations, each private chat is restored as a new Team with the same name. The original private chat thread is not restored back into the original chat interface. - Files are restored to Teams SharePoint
Files associated with the restored private chat are restored to the SharePoint site of the newly created Team due to API Limitations. - Files are restored in native format
Files are restored in their original/native file format. - Guest user messages cannot be restored
Messages sent by guest users cannot be restored due to Microsoft API limitations. - Teams Chat attachments depend on OneDrive backup
Teams Chat attachments are stored in OneDrive. To restore attachments, OneDrive must be backed up for all chat participants.
