How to restore Slack threads using the SysCloud backup application?

Follow the steps below to restore conversation threads in Slack from SysCloud application.

  • A message thread feature allows you to reply to or create organized discussions around any Slack channel message or direct messages.

  • Due to Slack’s architecture, a thread cannot exist without its channel. If the channel has been deleted, SysCloud will create a channel with the same name and restore the thread.

Step 1: Login to SysCloud application using your admin credentials.

Step 2: Click on “Archives” and select Slack from the Side Navigation Panel.

Step 3: Select your workspace from the list.

Step 4: Select the channel which contains the conversation thread.

  • Slack files shared in conversations are available under the Workspace Files tab, where you can search, view, and restore supported files from the backup archive.

  • To view a file and its contents, click on the file name.

Step 5: Select the thread(s) to restore the data by clicking the checkbox next to it and click “Restore.”

Note: Click on the thread to view its contents.

Step 6: Select the snapshot date and time and select whether to overwrite the threads.

Note: If selected, all the threads available in the selected channels will be overwritten with the version available in the snapshot. If not selected, the threads will be restored as new threads.

Step 7: Add comments to be shown in the restore report (optional) and click on “Restore” to confirm the restore.

The restore status can be seen in Restore report under Reports tab.
