What happens if I enable security and compliance when creating a backup job using the SysCloud backup application?

When you enable Security and Compliance while creating a backup job, SysCloud automatically scans the selected backup data for compliance violations and risky file-sharing activities.

Security and Compliance is available for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and QuickBooks Online.

What does Security and Compliance scan for?

SysCloud scans backed-up data using predefined policies for common regulatory, security, and business-sensitive data categories.

The predefined policies include:

• PCI
• FERPA
• HIPAA
• CIPA
• Movies and audio filter
• IEP
• Sensitive authentication data
• Confidential data
• Sales data
• Marketing data

When SysCloud detects content that matches these policies, the item is flagged for review. This helps administrators identify sensitive data exposure, compliance risks, and unsafe sharing activity.

Can I create custom compliance policies?

Yes. In addition to predefined policies, SysCloud allows you to create custom compliance policies based on your organization’s requirements.

You can create policies using:

• Keywords
• Patterns or regular expressions
• Thresholds

You can also define where the policy should apply, such as:

• Sent emails only
• Sent and received emails
• All stored content
• Content shared externally
• Content shared internally
• Content shared internally or externally

You can also add exceptions to reduce false positives and monitor sharing trends across emails and files.
