Why SysCloud's file order differs from Google Drive?
How backup priorities and API limitations shape file display in SysCloud
SysCloud displays your backed-up files and folders together, sorted by last modified date, not in the same folder-first order as Google Drive. This is because:
- Backup Focus: Our system is designed for fast recovery, so showing the most recently changed items first helps you quickly find and restore important data.
- Cross-Platform Consistency: SysCloud backs up data from multiple platforms (like Google Drive, Microsoft 365, etc.), so we use a single, unified way to display files and folders.
- Technical Efficiency: Sorting by last modified date is the most efficient way for our backup system to manage and retrieve large amounts of data
Additionally, due to Google Drive API limitations, SysCloud cannot always determine the exact location of some shared files—specifically, whether they reside in "My Drive" or "Shared with me." For certain shared files, the API does not provide enough information to accurately reconstruct their original placement within your Drive. As a result, all items are presented in a unified list, ensuring you can still find and restore your data, even if the original folder context can't always be shown for every shared file.
Note: Even though the order is different, SysCloud always preserves your original folder structure when you restore files. Plus, you can use our powerful search and filters to quickly find exactly what you need.
