What are the types of Slack data that can be restored using the SysCloud backup application?

You can restore supported Slack workspace data using the SysCloud backup application. SysCloud supports restore for Slack conversations, messages, threads, files, and user groups.

Slack data supported for restore

SysCloud supports restore for the following Slack data:

Slack data Description
Workspaces Slack workspace-level data available in the backup archive.
Conversations Slack conversations, including supported public channels, private channels, direct messages, and group direct messages.
Public channels Public Slack channels that are available in the backup archive.
Private channels Private Slack channels, including admin and non-admin private channels, that are available in the backup archive and accessible based on the Slack permissions granted to SysCloud.
Messages Messages within supported Slack conversations.
Message replies and threads Replies and threaded messages within supported Slack conversations.
Files Slack files associated with the restored workspace or conversations.
User groups Slack user groups available in the backup archive.
  • Public channels, private channels, direct messages, and group direct messages are treated as Slack conversation types.
  • Private channel restore depends on whether the private channel data is available in the backup archive and whether the required Slack permissions were granted during authorization.
  • Private channel thread restoration can be done only if every member of the channel authorize the same.
  • Direct message restore depends on whether the direct message data is available in the backup archive and accessible through the connected Slack account.
  • The Slack data available for restore depends on the Slack plan, connection type, permissions granted during authorization, and the data captured in the selected backup snapshot.
  • For Slack Connect channels, external members are not re-added automatically after a restore.
